Lush's Lipstick and Eyeliner

Lush has bravely gone ahead and launched their first cosmetics. No doubt so many of us are excited about it. Who doesn't want safer, more natural ingredients in their cosmetics?
I remember a few years back when Lush had a sister company 'B Never Busy to be Beautiful' (if I remember correctly) and they had a load of products which I assume supported Lush's incentive and used where possible, natural ingredients as opposed to chemicals. I was so disappointed when this shop closed down and always wondered whether Lush would bring back some of its sister company's products.

For now, I got the black Independent liquid eyeliner and the Perspective lipstick.

Let me start with the liquid liner:

When the sales assistant tested this at the back of her hand at the store, I was amazed. I saw a pigmented solid black line gliding through with ease. I explained that I have tried gel and liquid eyeliner before, but especially when it came to liquid eyeliners, I am all out allergic to. I was reassured that this would work on me and with that I got it, hoping this will be the magic potion.
When I tried it at home though, my eyes stung as soon as any liquid managed to get through to my eyes, so applying this on my waterline was virtually impossible! I was disappointed because I was expecting it to be gentle enough to use. It did sting pretty bad....! Or maybe I am just allergic to all liquids entering my eyes?

Also I found that the colour didn't resemble the pigmented black ink I saw at the store. On my eyes it settled to a dark ashy grey colour. 

And then I tried the Perspective lipstick:

Now this product is my magic potion people!
I wanted a shade that wasn't sparkly and one that was slightly darker than my lip colour. This was the perfect shade. It lasts 3-4 hours before it gets dry but even after it is dry it stays on your lips for hours. I was so so surprised with its staying power and there is no doubt that I will be looking into other shades.
It is very pigmented, comes in a liquid form but dries quickly and envelopes your lips with its rich colour.

Soaps and Scrubs (plus Elle magazine freebie!)

Let's call this my mini haul that I've collected over the last 2 weeks.

OK, so first, I bumped into a stall called I Love Boutique. You'll find this in one of the Xmas huts in Southbank or the German Xmas huts (close to Winter Wonderland). There were so many things I wanted to get from there, but I thought twice of getting stuff I'm actually going to use.

So here we go.

I got this lip scrub which is great for treating lips during the cold weather. I've tried Lush's lip scrubs, which I prefer more, although this lip scrub is different and is also yummy.








These soaps sold for 2 for £5.
This one reminded me of porridge, oats, milk and honey. It lathers up so well!


This is very fruity, great for mornings. Reminds me of tropical fruits and summer breeze.

I didn't want to spend more than £20, so I got this fabulous wallet in purple. Other colours available are grey and black (if I remember correctly!)






And finally, back to LUSH!
I'm keeping an eye on their new products. This one caught my eye as I was looking for me usual Sugarbabe body scrub (which I could no longer find!).
Australian igloo smells slightly minty, not overpowering ... I feel that Lush could have done more with this though!
It looks like Sugarbabe but it doesn't leave the same results. There was no silky after feeling, no lasting scent on the skin. So I'm disappointed but I'd get it again because sugar scrubs are a real treat!

Mini Lush Haul et Vaseline Creme Brulee

I did say that I managed to do a mini Lush Haul last week and I even managed to take pictures of the products. I also made myself an errand to get the limited edition Vaseline Creme Brulee from Selfridges. Vaseline is currently my second favourite lipbalm (Burt's Bees still being my favourite), so I was so excited when a Creme Brulee version came out. I told myself I'd get it. I'd get it because I didn't shop for a long while and also because I knew I needed it seeing as winter is approaching. It's fascinating to see how much cheer a small pot of Vasline can bring oneself.

It smells divine, tempting enough to eat...! And it keeps your lips so soft and protected. For those of you who are Vaseline fans, this won't disappoint.





And now... the Lush Haul!

I got my usual face mask, the Love Lettuce. I haven't used a face mask for more than a month so it's a relief to have this because every Friday is now face mask day!



I blogged about this soap before. It's called Lady Catrina and it's released for their Halloween edition and I really hope that it will stay at least until New Year because I want to stock up!
This has to be one of my favourite soaps. It smells incredible and does stay on your skin for a long time. If any of you tasted those Starburst chewy sweets in blackcurrant... try to recall its scent... because this soap smells SO similar. Lush should make this a permanent soap!




The Candy Cane soap you'd think would smell somewhat like candy floss or you know those really sweet bubble gum like scents? Well at least that is what I expected. This soap however has a twist and that makes it very interesting. Because it does not smell like a typical candy cane. The sweet scent is blended with the scent of almond, so it smells slightly minty in a way which catches you offguard. And because of that I use this mainly at nights. It puts me right to bed...







Lastly it's a funny encounter with the Lust Soap. I picked it up at the store and once I smelt it, I knew I definitely smelt the same scent somewhere. It took me 5 mins (though it felt like an hour!) trying to pinpoint exactly where I smelt this. I get so impatient at times trying to remember something which seems very familiar to me. It was then that I realised that I've smelt this same scent in one of Lush's perfumes, called Lust. The strange thing is, I didn't like the smell of Lust perfume. I found it too intoxicating - it was almost like a hit and miss to me. But this soap surprised me and seemed much lighter, so I got it.
One of the best things I like about this soap is the pretty pink water it leaves behind! And no, it doesn't stain your bath tub or shower curtains. How cool is that?!




Oh... and one major improvement I've noticed in the Lush soaps is the fact that these soaps lather so well! I remember around a year ago when I used to do Lush hauls and one of the few soaps I'd buy would disappoint me because it didn't foam up very well.

So, I'm impressed!

Japanese Aid Soap from Lush

I went to Lush a few weeks ago and got this Japanese Aid Soap, which is shaped like the country's flag. Lush says that all the money will go directly to Peace Boat.

Lush also says the following in their site:

This is very personal for us, as we have 145 shops in Japan and a factory with 1,600 staff. Some of our staff and their families have lost everything. The Lush Japan team saw the amazing work being done by a charity called Peace Boat, who are organising teams of volunteers, transporting aid goods and cooking hot meals in the disaster zone. Every Japanese Aid soap you buy will make such a difference to the efforts out there.

This is a limited edition soap, with the scent of 'I Should Coco' soap (I think this was discontinued).

For those of you who haven't tried I Should Coco, it's a light coconut scent that's very pleasing to one's skin. For those of you who have tried it, you might have realised how it failed to lather -.-

So, I'm glad that Lush has chosen 'I Should Coco' as the scent of the Japanese Aid soap, because I've always been a fan of the soap; its scent is the only thing that convinced me to go for it in the past. The Aid soap is different. I like how creamy it is and how much it lathers. Plus the scent does linger on for a few hours.

I also got a Lush Times =P, which I haven't read yet because I've been too busy.....

Product of the Year (So Far...!)

The product of the year so far goes to... Aromaco from Lush. *small applause*

I've always wanted to try out Lush's solid deodorants but was too reluctant to give it a go. However, in January, I was given a sample of Aromaco, which I blogged about here. I can't believe I still haven't finished the sample! I'm down to the last remaining morsel of it, which means that tiny block lasted around 2 months! Now, I think that's very good.

Here's how it actually looks like when bought, compared to its sample - not much difference of course -.-

On to the results...

Having heard the numerous news on the harmful effects of deodorants, I wanted to find an alternative that was safe to use, that was easy to apply, and that actually worked!

Aromaco ticked all those boxes and more. Lush has many good reviews on this, and I think this is their best seller for solid deodorants.

This is very easy to apply. Okay, so maybe not as easy as your normal roll-on or spray. You have to rub it on application, but it glides on so well and I didn't have a problem with it.
The scent could be better. I'd describe it as slightly herbal in a way. It does have a weird odour, but the good thing is you only notice this on application, so it is not at all overpowering in any way.
It's not oily, so there's no need to worry about greasiness.
It lasts the entire day and even longer! I'm so surprised by how long it lasts. It performs just as well, if not better, than deodorants in the market.
I have yet to test if it leaves any white marks - it would be a major bonus if it didn't leave any!

I highly recommend this product ^.^

Lush's Valentine Products

I got some of Lush's Valentine Edition products to try out. I was curious of what kinds of products they'd come up with this year and/or if they'd release any products made last year, which I've missed!

It's Raining Men Shower Gel

The shop assistant at Lush told me that this consists of 40% honey, which explains its slight stickiness and sweet scent.

This has to be one of my best shower gels because it smells like Honey I Washed the Kids soap (which is one of my favourites!).

Plus it lathers up so well and leaves your skin silky smooth...

...The after smell is deliciously fragrant!

Aromaco Solid Deodorant

I've been on the hunt for a natural deodorant for a long while now after reading several negative highlights on deodorants containing chemicals.

I've seen this solid deodorant at Lush, yet have always been reluctant to give it a try - so Lush was kind enough to give me a good sized sample of it (thanks Lush! ^.^)

I'm liking the Valentine's edition of Lush's shopper paper bag - I shall be adding this to my collage of pictures.

Love Lettuce Face Mask

I got my favourite face mask for the once or twice a week pamper ^.^

Having tried out 3 types of face masks from Lush now, this remains my all time favourite.

Love Birds Soap

I'm absolutely 'adoring' this soap at the moment!

It smells like a remix of Sex Bomb, The Joy of Jelly... and The Love Soap!

The Love Soap was a red hearted shaped soap which was released for last year's Valentine editions. I've finished all my Love Soap stocks from last year, so I was happy when I smelt this and discovered it was one in hiding =P

It's very creamy and lathers so well.

Jasmine & Vanilla go so well together!

Frog Prince Bath Ballistic

I haven't tried this yet, although the staff at Lush told me that the red lips in this frog is a bath melt, which should be interesting. So I'm assuming, as the green frog slowly fizzes away, it should leave a red pair of lips to slowly melt away... ahh... relaxing!

The Ex-Factor Bath Ballistic

To me, this smells like a spicier version of the Butterball Bath Ballistic. The staff at Lush told me what a lot of customers like doing is slowly dipping this in the bath, head first, or arm first, or leg first o.O... (haha...!)

Having tried this last year, I liked this quite a lot! Although, the only exception is.... the smell wasn't as strong and long lasting after everything fizzed away.

Magic Mushroom Bubble Bar

I think this has to be my favourite Bubble Bar. I've a stock of these! And even though I won't be stocking any more of this until I finish up the remainders I currently have, I was glad to see this back at Lush.

The design is cute. The price is reasonable, seeing as you can probably use all of it in 3 baths! That's the advantage with bubble bars.

Also, its scent lasts for a long while on your skin. And it reminds me of one of my favourite discontinued products - the Yummy Yummy Yummy shower gel.
