A Glimpse into Egypt in the 1920s

I came across these beautiful pictures of Egypt captured in the 1920s by Gervais Courtellemont and W. Robert Moore for the National Geographic. They've left me in such awe that I decided to share them with everyone. What a wonderful glimpse back in time it is...

Sometimes I wish I could be taken back in time, when it was more peaceful and humble...

All pictures are from here. These are just some of the pictures featured...

' Moschino Couture! , ... and ... ' Gucci Rush ,

MOSCHINO Couture!

I've had Moschino's Couture! for about a year and a half now. It's one of those scents which I can spray on any time whatever mood I'm in - which has been really handy because there have been many moments where I felt so picky over scents. During those times, my hand would usually reach over to Moschino's perfume...

I'm surprised there is a lot left in the bottle because I felt like I've been using this a lot!

I have to say, I'm very disappointed upon hearing several news saying this perfume might have been discontinued (hopefully that's not true!).

As you'll scroll down, you'll notice I've taken (way too) many pictures of this perfume. In addition to practising my 'capturing of detail ' skills, I really like the bottle and thought it would be a nice idea to practise expressing creativity through it.

The scent...
.... is amazing! Most of the time, I settle for light, musky scents which stay on for a long enough time. Moschino delivers that so well. Its reminds me of that lightness & hint of mild sweet dewyness fresh after-smell one is left with after a shower, or after washing one's hands. For this reason, I find it a wonderful perfume to spray on sparingly on your hair (I wouldn't recommend spraying directly on to your hair!).

What I also like about this is it strangely also manages to be slightly 'fizzy' & spicy. You'd think the combination of notes in this perfume wouldn't work... but as I was... prepare to be surprised!

I have a feeling this is one perfume that might not suit all and it depends on how well this blends in our skins - on my skin, it's perfect, it gives off a truly one-of-a-kind personal scent and I like the fact that this chemistry works out.
I would classify this as a casual scent, verging on formal...

I am MOSCHINO Couture!

My golden heart is my hat & my ribbon is my scarf...

My ribbon = a truly chic statement.
Afterall....Bows and ribbons are some of the designs Moschino is known for.

Peer right through me....

Ribbon: 'All eyes on me...'

Bottle: 'Count me in.'

The Original

GUCCI RUSH

I was given this fragrance a few years ago and initially, I enjoyed wearing it. It has a distinct exotic scent, with a citrussy-sharp-but-sweet-flowery scent (if you can imagine that!) that oozes a rush to one's senses. This is bursting to fill one's senses with so many sharp scents. So unsurprisingly, it's refreshing.

Some of the notes that make up this fragrance are:
Bergamot, Peony and Freesia, Middle notes of Violet,Jasmine and Carnation and Base notes of Orris Sandalwood and Vetiver

However, after continuously using this fragrance... I started to notice that it lost its appeal to me. I found out I couldn't wear this whenever I had a headache or felt ill.
It's a friendly casual fragrance but I wouldn't say it's anything special.

To me, a truly special fragrance is one which appeals to you just as well as the first time you sprayed it on.

The rich red colour of the bottle creates that look which makes it live up to its name - Rush.

Libya Crisis

Before I end my day, I just thought I'd make this post on the situation in Libya. I'm one of the many people following the updates to the crisis.

This morning I was reading this paper in shock and despair.

[Source: Metro Newspaper]

More information can be found here.

What's happening is truly appalling, saddening and beyond words to describe. 300 people today are reported to have been killed by Gaddafi ruthlessly.
And this is what his son has had to say today in the midst of all the chaos...

'We are not Tunisia and Egypt.'

'We will fight to the last minute, until the last bullet.

'We will keep fighting until the last man standing, even to the last woman standing...We will not leave Libya to the Italians or the Turks.'

Let's all be united and pray & hope that the Libyans rise up and free themselves, their country and their future.

Dining at Nando's - It's PeRi PeRi delicious!

So today I went to Nando's to have a late lunch...which also happened to be my dinner...
...yes... it was that filling and satisfying =P!

Olives are always a must, especially when you're at Nando's. These are the best olives I've tried at a restaurant.

Mixing in some sizzling Hot PeRi PeRi sauce...

This was the first time I've tried Houmous with some PeRi PeRi Drizzle...and I must say, it made it twice as delicious... as if by magic! Yumm.... this sure caught me offguard...

Will be ordering again!

So I began dipping almost everything on the houmous...

I ordered a Couscous salad. Delicious and healthy! At first glance, I thought there's no way I can finish all of it, then I realised that underneath the visible portion of couscous, lay lots of crunchy salad leaves and olives.

-------------

And then I ended up getting these sweets -.- and was pretty disappointed in them but thought they were 'fun' in a way...
I like trying out new sweets. So when I saw this sweet shop with loads of imported sweets, a crowd of people selecting their favourites...I just had to venture in.
And so I did.

I thought this would be a fun way to eat a bubble gum. However, I needed a lot of force to squeeze out the gum, plus, the flavour lasted for a few seconds. Not to mention it was initially pretty sticky on one's teeth ...

Okay, so because this was a candy shop...I thought this might just be candy toothpicks!
What else would you expect?
Well, upon opening it, I found out I might have just bought the most expensive toothpicks ever... >.> ...
No more said (haha).

Dining at Pizza Express

After a busy week and before blogging this... I decided to attempt making some mint tea, which turned out surprisingly well!

4 mint leaves

+ 1 PG Tip Tea Bag

= 1 yummy cup of mint tea (& sugar added)

------------------------

Recently, I went to dine in at Pizza Express. I must say, I was so satisfied with their Leggera pizza (as always). They're said to be under 500 calories, surprisingly full of flavour, filling, reasonably priced, high quality.... plus, they have different varieties of those!

I had to capture this! I like round objects in designs. With a pink heart on it, it paints on a prettier sight.

I ordered a Raspberry Lemonade, which smelt oddly of tomato juice and tasted something like raspberry flavoured water (??)...
Unfortunately, I had to order a Coke to replace this.

The garlic bread was soft, buttery & had just enough garlic in it. I also like the fact that it wasn't salty as a lot of garlic breads I've eaten were pretty salty!

Waiting for my main course... =P

The Leggera pizza I ordered is Mare E Monti, consisting of King Prawns, Mushrooms, Red Onions, Olives, Light Mozzarella & Cajun Spices.
Out of all the leggeras I've tasted so far, this has to be the best one.

Olives are a must at Pizza Express.

A Week's Ramblings

My absence from my lack of blog posts this week are due to me catching the flu unexpectedly. So, I have been ill but getting better =P
Anyway, in that week, these are some of the things I've been engaged in....
...in pictures & in words ^.^

I have been:
- Keeping up to date (via live feeds) on the situation in Egypt.
- Reading all the wonderful blogs I have been following =D
- Studying - because you just can't escape from it >.<...
- Resting - getting lots and LOTS of rest...

I got 2 of my usual fashion magazines to read. I missed getting last months' so I thought I'd get both of them this time.
I still haven't had the time to read them.

Testing out the eyeliner in Midnight black colour: On paper, it's very smooth and creamy. On your eyes, not so great. It doesn't cling on well so you'd have to press harder than you'd imagine. Forget about putting this on your waterline!

I completed (almost) my collection of the Nails Inc. Diet Coke promotion by getting this mysterious blue coloured nail polish. It's not too light and not too shiny - almost blue-black I'd say.
My opinion of Nails Inc. has now changed. Combine Nails Inc. with a top coat (I use Rimmel's top coat) and it stays on for a week or even 2 weeks!

I indulged in this White Coffee which was given to me. I'm one of those people who look at nutritional information in every food. So I was in shock when I saw this had 191 kcal and 8.2g of fat. Where did that come from?! After all, it seemed like a tiny sachet...so that was unexpected.
Anyway, this also made me curious as to how it would taste like.

See for yourself =P

The coffee was delicious. I have to say, this was probably the least bitter coffee I've ever tasted. It was so pleasant, silky & mildly sweet! So it was a yummy treat...

Also indulging in some Almond Vanilla Green Tea to ease my head... bits of almonds can sometimes be seen floating on the tea. The scent is so relaxing!

Peering into the teapot...

Lighting some candles: because a scented room & a tea light can make such a huge difference to one's mood.

And of course, some Lockets to help me by =P
