Westfield Sparkles!

Yesterday I visited Westfield at White City, Shepherd's Bush. It boasted magnificent festive lights, a jolly crowd, cheerful atmosphere ....
My visit there was short lived...So all the pictures you'll see below are captured within 10 minutes or less (!)

-Enjoy browsing through them!-

Approaching the shopping mall from the tube station...

Displaying beautiful arrays of festive lights. Like the design and colours used (much better than Oxford & Regent Street...who used the same Xmas display lights over 2-3 years now >.>).

Inside one of the shops.

I spotted my favourite festive treat of the season (toffee nut aside =P)... the Panettone (Italian dessert cake thing)! This was inside Waitrose.

Different varieties of Panettones inside Waitrose were displayed.

A section of Westfield outside decorated with illuminating snowflakes (I think this was my favourite decorations/lights because it was so serene and breathtaking...yet also so simple).

Inside Westfield - it was like being in an igloo with all the white decorations and lights.

Can't remember the name of this shop but I liked the numerous Singer machines they used for their display. Very vintage!

I know this is potentially useless...but wouldn't you just love one of these in your room? =P

The Village is filled with designer shops, featuring all the well known names you can think of.

I spotted one of my favourite restaurants - Jom Makan! Picture is blurry because I was in a rush.

And a horrible exit at the end of the day - opting for the tube was a bad idea. The crowd was annoying. I simply cannot stand this kind of atmosphere...

Jom Makan - Malaysian Restaurant

I found this restaurant about a year or so ago. It was a mini hidden treasure for me, mainly because I like Malaysian food (the fusion of Indian & Chinese food go well together), I love coconut in dishes AND all the food are halal (no pork and alcohol too =D), so this remains one of my favourite restaurants.

I headed there not long ago this week for lunch; as usual, it didn't disappoint.

That day they didn't play any music, which was unusual. Normally they do have a light random mix of popular music in the background. The lighting is great. The restaurant is spacious. The staff are helpful as always.

The only thing about this restaurant I would improve is the design. It seems to me that not much about it says it's a Malaysian restaurant apart from the art picture of the Petronas Twin Towers.

'May I have the Apple & Lime Juice please?'

'And for me, may I have the Melon, Lychee & Mango Juice, please?'

'As always.... some prawn crackers for starters...'

These prawn crackers were spicy. A great twist to the normal prawn crackers. Try these if you haven't already... They're yummy appetisers (as long as you don't order more and more!).

'May we also get the vegetable potato samosas for our side order...?'

Quite greasy for my liking, but otherwise the mild curry taste was gently spicy for the taste buds.

'Add the salad to our sides please.'

I don't really know how to describe this salad. Just think of normal salad, with a slightly odd dressing (either you like it or you dont =P)!

'For the mains, we'll have... the Ayam Percik (Chargrilled marinated chicken coated with sweet spicy coconut sauce)'

This was yummy... I like the balanced spices, the coconut... delicious!
The only thing that I have to criticise was the chicken. Okay, so I'm picky with meat, and I know it's very hard (but not impossible! KFC can do it...) to cook meat thoroughly, i.e. no red/slightly brown bits in its meat... so this was the only thing that I didn't like about it.

'For me I'd like the Nasi Goreng (Chilli spiced stir fried rice with prawns, chicken & vegetables).'

Check out this restaurant here. 2 stores are now open in the UK - one in Trafalgar Sq & the other, at Westfield (this is the newest one).

Body Shop Hair Butter Review & Malaysia Night

Body Shop Hair Butter Review

I wrote about The Body Shop's hair butter here.

My review:
I don't often dislike a product of The Body Shop's. However, the hair butter was a total disappointment for me. I expected this to be as moisturising, fragrant & soothing as its body butters. This didn't turn out to be anything near as good of a standard as its body butters or other products in their store.
I'm glad I only got the small size.

So firstly, I had to use half the pot... maybe more... which is a handful!
It was very thick (as expected) so I felt it masking my hair on application doing its 'heavy duty' work (or perhaps not!).

The smell was nice and natural (I think that was the only good point? =/).

Left it on for 5 minutes as directed. Rinsed it off. Few hours later.... and the result?
Slightly sticky hair (if you use this definitely rinse your hair more often than you would...) and hard to brush!

I would have been better off using shampoo only...
I'm sticking to Lush =)

Malaysia Night at Trafalgar Square

I spotted this event today and joined in. Too bad I only found out about this event in the evening. The crowd was unbelieveable...you couldn't move much! So I didn't see or learn much about Malaysia as I hoped ... but I did take some wonderful pictures =)

Dancers performing a dance on stage (wearing a Bunga flower on their hair. I found out this is their traditional flower).

See how packed it is? Crazy...! Although...it's a Friday and after work hours =P

One of the menus I managed to read...

I spotted one of my favourite restaurants' stall there! Jom Makan. If you haven't tried it yet...I recommend! Go for their tea (with condensed milk) & coconut ice cream for dessert. Simply yummy...

Some watermelon carvings I saw...wonderful talented art =)

And on a pumpkin! =P

And finally... I leave you with...

=) Happy Malaysia Night to everyone!
