Clinique, LV, Kipling, My Dream Outfit {and a topic to think about}

Bored or have some spare time? Watch some of Louis Vuitton's cool features.

Source: LV Newsletter

Click here to select your option of:
- Sitting in the Front Row
- Watching the Show with Marc Jacobs
- Entering the Insider's Experience

I only watched the first one - 'sitting in the front row' - it's pretty cool! You can click and drag the video in any direction for a whole 12 minutes as the catwalk is on. Okay, so of course it can't compare as to actually being there, but I think it's a fun feature! ^.^

--------------------------------

All Clinique fans - have a look at this wonderful bonus! All non-Clinique fans - I recommend you to start your 3 step skin care. Get the skin care products and receive this bonus (below) free.
You won't regret it!
Only thing is the fact that it is in Harrods only. But I think it is worth the trip =P.

I'm liking these cute monkey key chains by Kipling! Just in time before the royal wedding =P. I'm a huge fan of Kipling. Their quality is amazing. And I think at £10, these are reasonably priced!

My Dream Outfit this season would be the following...
I'd find an excuse to wear this, even if my only excuse is to wear it at home (haha! No, but really, if it wasn't for the heavy price tags, I'd get those!). It's just so pretty!! ^.^
I like the bow combinations. The Chanel sunglasses and the Hobbs dress fit so well together!
I refer to these Chanel sunglasses as the 'inverted tuxedo' because that is what they seem like to me.
I think the trickiest thing would be finding layers to go with the dress without ruining the look!

--------------------------------

I leave you with a topic to think about..........

In my post titled 'End of a Day's Ramblings' , I wrote about why modesty is essential. I wrote about my thoughts on a BBC article called 'Why do men shout at women on the streets?'. This BBC article had enormous amounts of responses and led to another related article called ' Is it OK to compliment a stranger?'. This focuses on (unsurprisingly) men complimenting women on the streets. It has divided opinions on the subject as you'll find out once you read it.
My opinion on it is clear. My post before reflects this =). But to make it clear - of course, it is not okay to compliment. We must all be lowering our gazes and not be lusting. And we must also all be playing our parts to help others lower their gazes by dressing appropriately.

Clinique's Moisture Surge

A few months back, I said I'd blog about some of the Clinique products I use. I never got round to blogging about it. -.-

So I decided to blog about Clinique's Moisture Surge to begin with; one of the reasons being Glamour magazine has a free sample size version of it (featured below). So keep a look out for it if you plan to get it ^.^

Clinique has been my facial care routine for 9 years now (unbelievably!). I can't see that changing. Their products can be amazing and deliver truly satisfying results.

I use Moisture Surge once or twice a day. Whenever I feel my skin needs it really.

The Spray version

Before the gel-like Moisture Surge came out, I was using this spray. I got it as a sample initially and I was convinced from the first application that this was going to be a staple product. The spray is less concentrated than the gel - so you might need top ups. For that reason I much prefer the gel. Although I did miss spraying this on!

The Gel-like version

Only a pea size amount is needed to apply to your entire face. It takes about 10-15 minutes to fully absorb.

It has an almost gel-like texture, which helps to keep the mixture cool. A few Clinique staff have actually advised me to put this in the fridge to make it even cooler - I have yet to do that!

I don't wear any foundation so I haven't tested applying this over makeup. As the instruction says, this should be fine to use under or over make-up - how convenient! =P

I think the instruction '5 minute moisture mask' (below) can be a bit misleading as some people might think it needs to be washed off - it doesn't!

The Results?

I always look forward to that cooling feeling it brings upon application. It makes your face look more lively, dewy/almost golden - in a good way (not oily!) and healthier. It moisturises your skin without the greasiness some moisturisers and face creams bring.

It really is a cure for thirst for all skin types.

One jar can last up to a year if you use it sparingly. That's how long I've managed to make my previous jar last. The price is £30 or below, which I think is very reasonable - in terms of how long it lasts and delivering what it promises.

Maybe that's why I can't seem to find any more of these in Glamour magazines........!

Glamour's Free Clinique Giveaway ...

... for only £2!
It took a while for me to digest the offer. So today, I stumbled upon a store. Grabbed 2 magazines. I had to...! Scroll down to see why.

What's more is the thickness of this magazine. It'll keep you entertained for a long while.

The giveaways. Which one would you pick?
Moisture Surge is my favourite but I couldn't find it.

I blogged about a Clinique lipstick similar to this in design. This is called High Impact Rouge 17 Rosette. It's a rich plum colour and a bit sparkly, creating a bold look (evening make-up comes to mind). My preference has to lie with the other Clinique lipstick, which I found more creamy, matte and subtle.

All About Eyes is one of the Clinique products I use daily. I like the feeling of moisture this brings and I also like the fact that this was made for 'under eyes', as it's not advised to put other moisturisers in that area. The skin under our eyes is delicate.

Clinique Bonus & Rituals

I got treated to some Clinique products...

I'm a HUGE long term loyal Clinique fan... I know I haven't been blogging about Clinique as much as I have been blogging about Lush; however....if I had to choose whether to give up one of the two (sorry Lush) it would have to be Lush! Yes... that is how amazing Clinique is to me.

I will blog about more of their products in future =)

House of Fraser held their Clinique bonus which consisted of the following...

These are the products bought (not the bonus!). I switch between Clarifying Lotions 2 & 3 depending on seasons. I won't review these now... I plan to blog about Clinique products properly (I'm thinking about reviewing each product individually).

Let's just say...I simply cannot start my day without their Clarifying Lotion.

Clinique's Bonus was presented in a pretty box (however, I was disappointed they did not give away any mini bags...they sometimes do this - but it depends on the store; each store has its own bonus).

The contents of the Bonus...

I have tried Clinique's airbrush concealer before. To keep it short: I wouldn't recommend this. I prefer MAC's or Bobbi Brown's concealer.
Also, this concealer is for fair skin tones only (so keep this in mind in case you're going for this bonus!)

All About Eyes (again, I shall review this at a future post) is an amazing under-eye moisturiser. It keeps the delicate area smooth & soft.

Deep Comfort Body Wash & Body Lotion moisturises very well. However, I wouldn't say they are anything more special compared to other 'more reasonably priced' lotions in the market.

I use this sometimes...Rinse-off Foaming Cleanser is another amazing skincare range. Leaves your face feeling squeaky clean....!

Apart from Clinique's 3 step Skin care products, its Moisture Surge remain my favourite all time product! It works wonders. Again... I'll blog about this separately too in a future post so keep a look out.

I got this sample for free. It's a full sized product too.
Rituals' Foaming Shower Gel -Indian Rose & Sweet Almond Oil smells amazing!
This is initially a gel like liquid which transforms into foam in contact with water. What I do like about this is... it foams up and lathers very well!
However, one thing I wasn't sure of is its smell. It smells amazing! Though.... sometimes I feel that the scent doesn't stay on for as long as I'd hope for...

As it promises: it leaves a silky soft feeling.

My Last Weekend (Catching Up...)

Last weekend, I went to watch Despicable Me at IMAX! I enjoyed the whole movie from beginning to end. I didn't use to be a big fan of Pixar, but the more of them I watch, the more I'm getting into them. And with 3D now available, twice the excitement and galore.

I won't add in any spoilers here so I'll make it very brief. Despicable Me is about a 'good' villain trying to make a living of well... being a villain. He meets his competition in a form of another villain called Vector. And both compete with one another to be the greatest villain. In the midst of all this, there are light hearted jokes, both adult and kid humour and some heart warming scenes.

Recommended for anyone and everyone.

I think it'll teach us all a thing or two =)

Picture taken at IMAX.

The next day I attended a Bollywood Concert featuring the singer Shreya Ghoshal.
She sings the voices for actresses in Bollywood movies; her first song began in the movie Devdas. You can watch one of her performances that day by clicking here. That's one of my favourite songs! Perhaps I'll put the video up here in another post =)
I recorded live videos but won't be uploading them online as they're too lengthy, but I'll leave you with (an unexciting) a picture from the concert.

I'm totally into lipsticks right now. For those watching Mad Men - yes it might be a side effect from the female characters there and their sense of femininity. Nothing can ever replace a lipstick! No lip glosses or lip balms or lip scrubs can take its place. A lipstick, I think, defines a woman's lips, imprints femininity onto it. From the moment you apply it.... revealing its old fashioned shape; to looking into the mirror and perfecting its colour onto your lips...leaving a wonderful pout and distinct colour.

Clinique's Creamy Nude Long Last Lipstick is what I'm currently using. Admiring its colour - neutral and blends in so well. I think this is one tone that will suit all women.

And finally, my thoughts on another perfume sample from Superdrug...
Ricci Ricci by Nina Ricci.

I don't like this perfume as much as Nina's apple scenting one because it's too concentrated on the floral notes. This said, this is not so floral as one might expect...although I prefer floral perfumes to have a balanced mixed of some sweet scents to suit all occasions.

Is it just me or are floral scents not suitable for application when you have a headache?

Top notes: Rhubarb Zest, Bergamot.

Heart notes: Moonflower, Indian Tuberose, CentifoliaRose.

Base notes: Patchouli, Sandalwood.

Elle & Marie Claire Giveaways!

I got these magazines today...
Normally I do get Elle & Vogue together. However, Marie Claire's free nail polish was hard to resist!

I have tried both products, which is why I'm posting this today (yes, I know, I couldn't wait to try them on the same day... >.<...). Anyway I hope you'll find them useful and decide whether you want to get these magazines too to try them out!

Marie Claire's Ciate Paint Pots

The one I chose is Dangerous Affair 013. It's a deep shiny rich ruby colour. Now I think (this is just my opinion!), if you have a fair - medium skin tone, this colour might not suit you... I find it too harsh against lighter skin tones. Hence the only reason why I didn't like this colour! However, if you have a dark skin tone...this would be amazing and is well worth a try. Do get the magazine as it is much cheaper compared to buying the nail polish alone.

The brush is very manageable and soft. You can feel that this is well built compared to other nail polishes.

Does this compete with O.P.I nail polishes?
YES. It certainly does. I would say it's as good, if not better, than O.P.I.
The quality is satisfyingly amazing. It doesn't leave those visible streak marks a lot of nail polishes leave. You nail looks very well made, as if you've just gone to the salon! Of course, saying this...this also needs to be applied with care! I noticed it does dry up pretty quickly, so try practising getting it right on the first strokes.

Nails feel glamorous indeed.

This comes in 2 colours from Marie Claire. Get yours this month and check it out for yourself.

Oh, and before I forget... look at the bottle. Cute or what? Liking the design and the little bow. Seems very chic, don't you think? Also, I liked the consistency of this polish. It wasn't too runny nor was it too thick...which made it easy to apply neatly (compared to other polishes).

Elle Magazine's Clinique Superbalm Moisturising Gloss

I've been using this superbalm for years now. I usually get mine from Clinique Bonuses (I am a loyal Clinique fan!).
However, I got this anyway because I was curious about its colour. It seemed darker to what I usually apply. Notice that, a lot of colours seem to be plum (trend?).

This was okay for me.
It moisturises well and stays on your lips for a long time. It has a semi-thick consistency so even after you eat or drink, you can feel it lingering on your lips, which is good.

The colour, plum, yet again made me undecided. I think (my opinion again!), like the nail polish, this lip gloss is well suited for dark skin tones and might be seen as too harsh on lighter skin tones (you could always apply a tiny amount to lighten up the ruby-ness). But everyone has their own taste so if you like bolder colours, go for this.

If I had to pick one magazine's product out of the 2, it would have to be Marie Claire's, simply because Elle's is a sample sized product and if you're a Clinique fan like I am, then just wait for their bonuses and get this lipgloss from there.

Elle Magazine's Clinique Superbalm Moisturising Gloss - 7.5/10
Marie Claire's Ciate Paint Pots - 9/10 (Note: I have only used this polish today and feedback does not include how long it lasts or if it chips easily (or not!)).

Ciate Nail Polishes have an exclusive offer until 18th December 2010. They're giving 15% off total orders when you shop online at www.ciate.co.uk
